Children will need to wear shorts and a t-shirt and will be provided with a school vest when they arrive at the venue. It is recommended that they have warm clothes for before and after their race along with a drink handy for when they finish. Once your child has completed their race, they are able to go home or they are welcome to stay and cheer on their team mates.
Upon arrival, please locate a member of staff near the Ellistown School flag who will have registered your child for the race, and will be giving out school vests and collecting results at the end. Children will need to arrive 30 minutes before their event in order to sign in at the flag and warm up- you may also want to walk the course with them prior to the race so please allow good time to do so. Race distances for each year are Year 3-1100m, Year 4- 1350m, Year 5- 1794m, Year 6- 2124m. There are usually around 200 runners per race and the event times will run as follows:
Race 1- Year 3 Girls- 10.00am Race 5- Year 5 Girls- 11.30am
Race 2- Year 3 Boys- 10.15am Race 6- Year 5 Boys- 11.45am
Race 3- Year 4 Girls- 10.30am Race 7- Year 6 Girls- 12.00pm
Race 4- Year 4 Boys- 10.45am Race 8- Year 6 Boys- 12.15pm
The early races often attract well over 250 children in each race and cars are often queued up the road leading to the entrance, so if you are arriving for these races, please allow plenty of time to get in and get parked. For the first time this year, the secondary races will also take place on the same day. These races begin at 9.30am, with the year 7 events following the year 4 boys and prior to year 5 girls.
There is a charge of £4 for parking which goes towards the cost of running the event. Information regarding the organisation can be found at https://funtorun.co.uk/running-leagues/lpxc/essential-information/faq/ Refreshments and souvenir jumpers are available to purchase at each event (approximately £10).
For race day rules, use the following link: https://funtorun.co.uk/running-leagues/lpxc/essential-information/rules/ Children in years 5 and 6 are able to wear spikes if they have them.
If there are any changes and your child is unable to attend these dates, please leave/send a message to the school via a school Facebook post, that will be available for comment from the Friday before so that staff are aware
