20th March 2020
Dear parents/ carers,
The government released some information during the early hours of this morning regarding who constitutes a key worker.
We need to stress that officially, school is closed. The advice from the government is to not send your children to school wherever possible in order to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus. You will appreciate that we are running on a skeleton staff with some members of our team self- isolating. The fewer children making the journey to school and the fewer children in educational settings, the lower the risk that the virus can spread and infect vulnerable individuals in wider society.
Schools are in a position to only provide essential childcare for those key workers whose work is critical to the Covid 19 response and have absolutely no other childcare options and whose children cannot be safely cared for at home.
If you feel that you are a key worker and have no other options for childcare, please complete the form available on ParentMail titled Request For Childcare Provision. We will then be asked to prioritise who we can support. This may vary on a week by week and need basis. If you have already let us know that you think you are on the list, please do still fill in the form below with the necessary information, as we have been asked to collect this to support us in the triaging process.
We aim to provide childcare at school between the hours of 7.45am and 5pm. Please note that from 3.15pm today, we will cease being a school and will become a childcare provider and therefore the National Curriculum will no longer be followed, which means that children attending school will be at no academic advantage to those who do not.
The government list of key workers can be found here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision
Please ensure that your response is emailed back by 3pm this afternoon (Friday, 20th March) and we will inform you if we have a place available for your child.
Thank you for your understanding
P.S In the event that we are unable to support your child here at Ellistown, but you still qualify as a key worker, there will be a number to contact at the Local Authority who will direct you to the nearest hub school.
Please CLICK HERE for a copy of the form. Please send your completed copy back to email@example.com or call the school office on 01530 260301 to complete the form over the telephone.
