Run to Lapland - Friday 8th December
On Friday 8th December Ellistown Primary School held our “Run to Lapland event, where pupils, staff and parents took part in a fun run/walk to raise money towards new playground equipment as our wooden trail is now getting old and is in need of replacing. The aim was to complete the number of miles from Ellistown to Lapland, together we needed to run 6000 laps of a planned rout around the school in order to run approximately the same distance from Ellistown to Lapland; with everyone’s help we ran a total of 6138 laps! An absolutely amazing effort by all who took part whether running or walking, you helped us to achieve our goal. The atmosphere of team spirit during the afternoon was phenomenal, what a great community 'Team Ellistown' are: coming together to achieve our challenge whilst getting fit and raising funds for the school. I'm very proud to work with such an incredible community.
During the afternoon we were all incredibly impressed by the determination of our pupils, and whilst we had practiced to see how many laps we might do, I don't think anyone could foresee just how many laps we would achieve together with such a great atmosphere and support to spur us on. Each class surpassed their initial pledge and everyone is really proud of themselves for achieving their personal bests.
Thank you to everyone that took part, supported and helped organise our run the Lapland.
